I used to walk up to girls who seemed like they were alone in the cafeteria and ask if they wanted to eat together. That worked a few times and even got me laid once or twice. Haven’t tried anything like that in years

I was like you at twenty-one. First, don't hover over them when you talk. Try to sit down with them if they are sitting. In academia most people are actually that approachable if just say hi, do you mind if I sit with you for a second....

They were also easier to stop if they were walking past, just to say hi, wait, can I ask you something...

Really not that difficult once you get over the hype.

Keep eye contact with them. Don't be afraid to blink, but you really need to see them in the eyes, it is the best way to tell the state of who you are speaking to.

Try to join some clubs that you are interested in, that way you can meet girls with similar interests as you which will make it much easier to approach them

My advice might be not the best because I just atteneded a University here in Austria and have no clue about that average college life in America besides the stuff I know out of movies. And these movies are not very realistic I presume.

In general a college should be a good place. Plenty of women around to interact with while just doing normal college stuff.
