You’ll get a mix bag really, just like anywhere.
Just cürious but roughly how would you approach ?
[–]Kledusmain 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Well if I’m familiar with their flavor of geekdom it’s fairly easy to strike up a conversation. Also if they get my subtly planned outfit that really makes for an easy conversation.

Be aware that most women who are in costume there are getting hit on almost non stop.

I don’t really hit on women per say, just a conversation. But I get it, forget the whole damn thing. Back to dating sites that don’t work.

No no no. Comic-Con is a great place to pick girls up, I’ve been there many times, I’ve known lots of people who meet others at cons. As long as your not weird about it shouldn’t too hard. Just, don’t go only for the women, go to actually have fun and geek out while talking to women throughout your time. Women have nose for finding men who are only looking for sex.
You seem like a nice chill dude, and such so you shouldn’t have a problem. I’m mostly giving these warnings as a general bit of personal advice.

Yelling, pushing, trying not to puke because of the smelly smell teenagers and lockerooms smell of... HOW ARE YOU? - you ask....
I am fine says John, he dressed up as sailormoon this year.....

I feel like you would have an easier time picking up girls who go to comic con while they aren't at comic con. Girls in cosplay outfits know they are hot shit.
[–]Kledusmain 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Well it’s worth a shot. I’m not the type to come on strong and creepy, just strike up a conversation about whatever in geekdom.
[–]gemini88mill -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Do creeps know that they are creepy? Not saying you are but you're going for girls in costume getting asked to have their picture taken non stop. It's not ideal for seduction.
Now let's say they are at an after-party and they have taken their outfit off, about an hour in when no one is taking to them? Yeah that's way more favorable.

Meh. It’s fairly easy to pickup girls there, even as a creep. My uncle comes off quite creepy cause of this weird whisper thing he does that he thinks is sexy, yet he’s pulled tons of bitties from comic con (as in like four) but still! He doesn’t even really try that much, he only goes for the ones that are his type and that he can have a convo with.

We're talking comic con, the apple of cons. To be fair I went to megacon in Orlando so milage may vary. Personally, i get more pull at bars.
[–]thatshinobiboiii 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I can’t go to bars so I can’t say if I would pull more there, but nerdy/geeky girls are my bread and butter, and I’ve known loads of people who met their SO or hooked up at a con. I mean it’s a building full of mostly young adult horny nerds dressed in provocative costumes with alcohol involved, but you just have to understand that everyone is there to geek out first, hookup/date second.
[–]Kledusmain 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I will have my female friend with me I should add, do you think that helps in the creepy department?
[–]gemini88mill 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It helps, but my feelings on cons are it's where geeky girls go to feel like a celebrity. Not to be overly pessimistic but generally speaking girls that cosplay mainly because they like the character design, not because they like the source material. So i feel like your plan to discuss geekdom might not pan out as well as your think.
The way i see it is that you and the person your trying to hit on should at the same "level" of social esteem. So comic con girl looking foxy is not going to talk to you when she could attempt to curry favor with an actual celebrity or another high status person at the event.
My idea of the after-party is where both of you are on the same level of social esteem. You both are two people enjoying an after party without costumes. This is also why bars and clubs are so popular, they are a great social equalizer.

Well damn. Idk wtf to do. I’m not good at this and my only thought was something akin to hey, I recognize that t shirt let’s talk about it. Idk man I’m not good at the bar at all and I don’t care for alcohol.
[–]gemini88mill 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The philosophy of seduction is sometimes overly complicated. Alcohol helps because you are more loose about what you say and more carefree, but it's not required unless your an extremely anxious person.
Last time I went to a con i had a t-shirt that had a reference to goldeneye 64. So it was a conversation starter. I did the touristy thing and take pictures with everyone. I never had a conversation with someone outside of, hey cool costume.
The best costume was a girl who was dressed as a sim and had a friend pop up options like in the game. One of the options was woohoo which obviously she automatically rejected and the relationship bubbles would show negative, all done by the friend in the background. That was by far the most interesting costume. The costume was easy, all you had to do was create a green diamond and float it over your head and walk around. I stole this idea for a Halloween party and got a k-close out of it.
I didn’t think about them already being bombarded with photo ops etc so good point. I’m just trying for conversation and to see where it goes though. I’m neither insistent or persistent with women which to me are the definite starting qualities of a creep. If she is uncomfortable talking to me I would be uncomfortable. Idk man I’m lost I need to figure something out. I just figured it would be an easy place to have a conversation for once.

A woman's greatest asset is time, and you are asking for it without bringing anything to the table. A coffee date is easier to arrange then a dinner which is easier to arrange then a night over, etc.
Talking to women is a transaction of time, and on a subconscious level we are all doing this. A conversation of the source material of her costume is a conversation she has had many times before and therefore not worth her time. You've done this to when your in a conversation with someone who's talking about a thing your completely uninterested in and your trying to leave to do something more interesting.
Consider the approach of being completely oblivious to her costume. Let's say she is dressed like sailor moon or something, you say hey cool costume so are you a Japanese school girl or something? She would retort immediately and shame you for not knowing salior moon as it's iconic to her. Now you're in a contrasting argument about which is better sailor moon or something else, or she's explaining to you how great the show is and why. It's worth her time to explain because it's something she cares about. You can then deviate to more interesting topics like her and her personality.

Just ask to take a pic with her and give her a compliment about her outfit.
The costume is actually an icebreaker. Especially if you know which character she's cosplaying as

Bruh all I cared about on Comic-Con was upcoming Marvel movies hahaha
[–]DPJKOG 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Can confirm, yeaarrrs ago, hooked up with a chick from a booth, whose dad drew for marvel lol. Tbh she hit on me first, didn’t pick up the cue til later (friend said why didn’t I do anything), but came back to shoot my shot and scored.
[–]Keravnos- 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
how'd she hit on you
[–]DPJKOG 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It was pretty subtle, I was browsing thru their booth, there was some freebies at the table and she made a remark, I don’t remember what she said this was like 12 years ago lol. But my homie saw everything and was like why didn’t you follow up on that. I thought about it and kicked myself for not doing anything atm but she ended up walking around the con and I bumped into her again and I ended up grabbing her number and eventually went on a date and closed afterwards.
