Because to most people getting rejected confirms all the negative things they think of themselves. If they never risk getting rejected they can keep going on believing they’re as awesome as they wish they were.

Back in tribal days if you fucked up with cave Stacey she would tell cave Tina and all the other cave women and they would be then end of your genetic legacy. Or hit on cave Steve's cave women and he might bash you over the head with his cave club.

Doesn't apply now when we live in cities of millions. But our cave brain has not caught up to our non cave environment.

What exactly is it that you are trying to ask or say? I don’t think anyone is afraid of anyone’s opinion, regardless of gender.
