It's better to be interested than interesting. Let them do the hard work of talking and all you need to do is listen and bounce off their points and ask and inquire further.

People will think you are interesting when you are interested in them. It's like the Ben Franklin effect. (When you ask someone for a favor, they like you more, it's a psychological thing)

When you are genuinely interested in what the other person has to say; they will think you're the most interesting conversationalist in the world.

Ah yes, I too have heard that the ladies enjoy a cunning linguist. Far better to be a cunning linguist than a master debator I hear.

The classic book is How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. It is one of the most frequently recommended books in seddit.

I will give you the tl;dr of the section on being an exceptional conversationalist: shut up and listen. Let the other person talk about their favorite subject: themselves.
