What you really feel in this context, that you can't present your behaviour as rational when you will finally approach her after so much hestitation.

But you can. It's normal to hesitate. Anxiety doesn't come from nothing. Girls would like to see guys as other human beings, vulnerable like them. You can casually mention that you were exchanging glances when you will talk, which will release the tension, end of drama.
