The ‘ensure she never finds out’ is where your answer is. You’re essentially lying to your partner by hoping she doesn’t find out. That’s how cheating goes. If you want to know if it’s okay. Tell her. The two of you are the only people who can decide if it’s okay for your relationship or not

If you have to ask this question, then your moral compass is not gonna allow this to sit easily in your mind. There’re people that are openly polyamorous, and who even have regular side chicks without their wives’ knowledge, and they can do it because their moral compass allows for it to be acceptable. For me, from a completely amoral point of view, this is going to implode in the future for you, because I think you think of it inherently as wrong and are looking to rationalise it.
Personally, I think it’s wrong and difficult to do it behind your wife’s back. If I’m scared of what she’ll do/think/say, I’m not being honest in my relationship. It’s an act riddled with fearful choices and I know it’s an impossible act to keep up for me personally.

Interesting thanks for your answer.

Are you seriously asking if it's wrong to cheat and trying to justify it by saying you are horny?
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Wrong subreddit for this.

Is it though? A lot of us here are in or will eventually be in a monogamous relationship after years of pickup, and let's face it, unlearning pickup is almost impossible once ingrained. So the idea of living an ethical life once out the game is relevant; even Neil Strauss from the game cheated after his happy ending.
And yes, there are open relationships, but from my experience, these are often rare, usually unstable, and collapse once children become involved. How many married couples with kids in open relationships do you know?
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Noone is telling you to unlearn pickup. Just because you have a skill does not mean you should exercise it

"Is it a morally wrong"
I am going to make a leap a faith here and you are a Christian. In a Christian marriage, it would be violation of moral law to have a sexual relationship outside what God ordained.
If you aren't a Christian, that's would be adultery, and your spouse would be so upset with you.
Either case isn't socially acceptable.
Ah so for you, the issue is that the woman will eventually find out. What if she never does?
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It is still immoral.
[–]may-begin-now 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The lie of omission is the hangup. It's what will hurt you mate when the truth comes out. Monogamy has its drawbacks in such cases. You seem to be more open and less monogamous then your partner in this case.
[–]thebestoftheworst95 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And what if the truth never comes out? Cheating is usually revealed when the mistress makes contact with the cheater at the wrong time, or the woman finds evidence, which is not usually present with a sex professional.
Is it wrong if the spouse never finds out?
[–]may-begin-now 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The truth always seems to find ite way out. As for "is it wrong " you are the only one who can answer that question its your own guilt system looking for a way out. Justification is a skill often miss used by our mind to allow ourselves the naughty pleasures in life. It doesn't apply in my world we are polly we discuss everything openly and enjoy far more freedom.

It depends. If you're honest about it and your partner can live with then you're fine. if not of course morally wrong. Many people lead on mutual consent open relationships so why can't you?
[–]20ftScarf 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If she knew about it, that’d be one thing, but no, that’s not an ok secret to keep. In a hypothetical world where you knew she’d never find out, maybe there’s a debate to be had. But I guarantee you aren’t as sneaky as you think you are.
You fucked up. You ain’t the marry in’ kind. Get out now.
[–]thebestoftheworst95 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
First off, don't make this personal. I have never cheated.
For the sake of debate though, let's say this is that hypothetical world. An escort is very different from a lover. Escorts don't go contacting clients or getting involved. There is rarely a paper trail. Being "sneaky" is as easy as deleting a single text. In many cases there's even less evidence than that.
[–]20ftScarf 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is a pretty personal question. Hard not to make it personal. You may not have cheated, but I get the impression from your post that you want to and are trying to justify it to yourself. You describe monogamy as a prison. People who are wired for monogamy don’t talk like this.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting a side piece. You just should have found a wife that was ok with that. Or not gotten married.
And even in this hypothetical world, paper trail or not, you’re still going to be lying about where you’re spending your time and money, and you’re going to come home smelling like sex. Unless your wife is willfully oblivious, this is going to cause problems.

Belongs in a different sub where they will tell you what you already know.
There are plenty of women that are down for nonmonogamy, but that takes honesty that you aren't displaying at the moment.

I never said I was planning on seeing an escort or even in a relationship. So stop reading between the lines and trying to make this personal because you're wasting your time, I'm looking for a philosophical debate here.
Are you capable of that?
Yup

Not trolling looking for serious answers only.

If your partner did the same thing, how would you feel?
… well there you go
[–]thebestoftheworst95 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I would feel upset, BUT that's an unrealistic scenario. Women don't have the same intense physical needs that men do, they have intense needs for emotional intimacy and validation. An escort can't provide that.
But a lot of women do seek emotional validation and intimacy outside of the relationship via accepting flirtations from men on nights out, posting provocative photos on social media, or even keeping a few male friends (orbiters) around. While the same behavior from a man would make a lot of women run for the hills, most of their boyfriends tolerate it from their girlfriends, because we put more emphasis on physical intimacy than emotional intimacy.
So an equivalent to a woman emotionally but not physically cheating (which men tolerate) would be a man physically but not emotionally cheating. Is my logic sound here?
[–]mrblack-- 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link
Listen brother I agree with everything you’re saying, but your question wasn’t about what’s realistic or not. You asked if it’s moral.
Very unlikely you or I will kill someone, the likely hood doesn’t make it any less or more moral, now we both are more likely to steal something that to kill someone… still doesn’t make it any less or more moral.
If you do it behind your partners back, it’s immoral.
And by your logic it should be okay for a woman to hire escorts for just sex because she doesn’t even need physical intamcy SO in the unlikely situation if she does hire an escort she can say “babe it’s just sex, you give me all the emotional intimacy I need”
[–]thebestoftheworst95 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
A woman hiring an escort for physical needs would be devastating to a man, my logic is that women don't care about sex as much as emotional intimacy. So if a woman hired an escort for purely emotional reasons it would be an equivalent to a man hiring an escort for purely physical reasons. And many men don't care about a woman fulfilling some of her emotional needs outside the relationship as long as they are the only one she has sex with. Women shouldn't care if men get some of their physical needs outside the relationship as long as they are the only one the man cares about emotionally.
But what if monogamy in general is immoral for the man, because not having regular and varied sex harms him emotionally?
[–]mrblack-- 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If she don’t care tell her then :/
You know your logic doesn’t apply in the real world. Your logic would only apply if the woman your referring to is your partner, and she felt exactly how you are explaining women feel. In reality regardless of needs physical or emotional needs we generally want our partners to ourselves.
Sex is not immoral for a man, your just confusing yourself trying to apply your logic.
The morality in question comes from the boundaries set in your relationship, if your partner has no issue with you fulfilling your physical needs elsewhere it’s not immoral, if she does, it is because you have broken her trust.
If your partners emotional needs are being met by other men that’s because you allowed it, that doesn’t now warrant you looking for equivalencies… if you wanna fuck escorts and you’re scared to run it by your partner, you know why you won’t.
Good answer thanks

It’s called an open relationship, I just don’t know if you’ll like the other half of what that relationship entails (her being free to sleep with other men).
[–]Pix3lerGuy 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It definitely is morally wrong, as she definitely will get hurt if/when she finds out. However, nobody here is stopping you from doing it, and it's probably more common than most of us realize. It's your life so you do you, but be prepared for the consequences if/when she finds out.
Stop thinking about what we can say, my best advice as woman just look for a couple that understand that or make the relationship open 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️

if its a sexless relationship, then sure
