On the rare occasion I buy a girl a drink, I pretend to hand it to her then pull it back and chug it down. You can tell by her reaction whether she is genuinely interested in you or not.

It's ok. Early on in my game, I approached a group of girls and introduced them to a cool new drink I'd discovered. We had decent conversation while I was buying a round for them but as soon as the drinks were in hand, they all walked off in unison. Not a big deal as long as you learn from it.
