How about strike up conversation with girls you see at departments stores, clothing stores, thrift stores... i guarantee its not gonna be anything close to your starbucks conversations!! It's not fair to do that at their job. I know it may be easier since, in a way, they'll be "forced" (not being able to just walk away) to talk to you and they'll be polite, but it's not about genuine connection. It's simply them giving good customer service. Do this is in public places instead where they won't feel obligated to respond kindly and you'll get the more genuine reactions.

Just start taking (not flirting per se)to girls, even if you’re not interested in them, young, old, overweight, skinny, beautiful, ugly.. doesn’t matter just make an effort to day say hi, smile and try to start a conversation. Do this 1,000 times and you will comfortable talking to anyone. You’ll be more confident… in other word just practice and have fun without expectations.

I agree service girls are obligated to be nice to you - practice basic conversation on them and be polite but don’t hit on them. Try flirting with a girl in line for coffee or at a store or in public. Read the energy of the room, notice their body language. I do this with service people - if they seem upbeat, high energy I say “looks like you’re having a great day!”. If they seem low energy/stressed, I ask if it’s been a rough day or say “I hope it’s your friday!” Start here and if she opens up a bit, you can give a compliment or ask a question. If the body language is closed off and respond short, don’t annoy her. The more genuine your comment is and in tune with the girl’s vibe, the more open the response will be
