I'm in almost an identical spot man, its all how you view yourself. You need to stop looking at your past as "regrettable" and instead take whatever you can as a learning experience from each sexual encounter in your past. If anything chalk it up to helping you be better in bed if nothing else. I was the unpopular kid in high-school, never believed attractive women would like me, and as an adult I've been slowly unlearning that. It sounds like you're in the same spot, and if you are its literally all in your head. You'll never fully understand how others perceive you but as you can tell and even said yourself others do find you attractive. Once you believe that for yourself you'll be much better off, and much more positive, and positive vibes do a lot.

Go to therapy. There must be something else underneath that is creating the low self esteem that you said you’ve always had. Get to the bottom of that and not liking yourself, then build your confidence from a new foundation. Everything else is just a bandaid.
