Seems tacky

I smell what you're cooking, I did have that thought. Another perspective I had is that it's probably not something that girls get often, so it might be attention grabbing.
I'd also imagine if there's a genuine enough connection, at some point it might not matter? Just thinking out loud.

I hear ya I just think of a woman at a club. She gets your number throws it in her purse and never looks at it again until she throws shit out

I haven’t tried this myself, so my advice is to experiment and see what happens. If it works, great. If it doesn’t, great.

This is exactly where I'm coming from, I'm just curious to play around with different elements and see what happens. I have some pause from the reactions I've gotten here no doubt, but still tossing around the idea.

Honestly, I’d just try it if I were you. Worst case scenario, you don’t get any action out of it, but in the grand scheme of things you aren’t losing much. Best case scenario, you discover a tactic that works for you, and can use it over and over.

It’s a waste of money because they are not gonna call you and are very likely to throw the card away as soon as you are gone or forget that they have it.
It’s you who needs to do the calling, not them. Also business cards really? We are in the 21th century, who goes around handing business cards other than boomers? Specially in dating.
Business cards are for business not to start romantic relationships.
[–]BijuuModo 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I can actually get them for free through work so there would be very little investment on my part and I wouldn't lose money even if it does end up in the trash. Business cards are still pretty relevant imo, at least in my job.
But I agree that A.) It could come across as a little stale and B.) Guys typically do the calling. I'm just considering messing around with some different elements given that it's so easy for me to get them.
[–]CompetitionFair7686 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Honestly, handing business cards is like saying “hey i’m old, and completely out of touch of how the game works”
i wouldn’t use them if i were you, even if you get them for free, it’s costing your company money, and it’s also bad for the environment, and they won’t work anyways because as i said women are very unlikely to text first unless you make one hell of an impression by being someone super fun and charming when you interact with themes
Giving around cards to women you barely speak less than 2 mins is like receiving spam, we all know what we do with spam.

My company has plenty of institutional money and my labor, so I'm not worried about their coffer tbh. 😅 The impact on the environment does give me pause. If I do this I'll probably order some to use for work so it's not a waste, then maybe take one or two with me.
I wouldn't give them out like candy, only to people who I have a good connection with whose number I would ask for anyways. I usually have no problem making an interesting and fun first impression, so I guess I'm curious if a solid first impression and the display of future value would be more impactful than a woman not wanting to text first.

No. You shouldn't be giving your number to women period. Women rarely call. You need to get their number and call them.

Business cards are for business-use.
Just give them your number or better yet. Ask them for theirs
Appreciate the straightforward opinion. If I do this, I'll probably give them to some people and just go the more traditional route of getting numbers with others.
Not really investing too much stock in having stellar results, it's just really easy for me to get business cards for free so I'm curious what would happen.

Makes you seem a little desperate to me
That's fair. I don't perceive myself as a desperate person, just curious about playing with different options. But I get that girls may not see it that way. I think if it did work, the initial impression I make would have to be airtight so they're left wanting more.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Do not ask them for theirs. Give value. Give them your card and say if they ever feel like reaching out. Do it as if you couldn't give two fucks if they ever do. JFLMAO at other commenters saying you don't know "how the game is played" if you do that. Just another example why you should NEVER take dating advice from a girl, about girls.
[–]BijuuModo 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes this is EXACTLY the basis for this idea. I get the logic of the other redditors and I am considering those opinions, but I know I give value and so I'm really not concerned if someone reaches out or not. It's just fun to play around with different elements and I'm curious what would happen.

Yep. My specific personality types is not one to try and convince or woo or pander or be salesy to anyone. None of this "Lets connect..!!!! and *hugs*" bullshit. Still, I would like to meet people and so the middle-ground there is to conversate then nonchalantly hand over the card, then quickly disappear.

Never count on the girl to contact you. Get her digits. Online connection a distant 2nd.

You should be asking women you like to join you for a drink or to make a definite date later, or at a bare minimum getting their numbers and texting them yours, not wasting your time handing out your number. Especially on a business card that you have prepared for this, it communicates that she's one of many women you're casually throwing your info at. Instead, you want to make her feel special and show confidence by directly asking for her info. Ideally ask her for a date but if that's too bold for you then you can start smaller and progress to that.
Here's the breakdown of how to ask a woman out:

Thought of this, never went through with it. I asked people in person if that was viable. “What the fuck? No, dude, you gotta talk to them anyway to give them a card, and it shows you have no balls if you give them your number. Might take the pressure off, but they want to be asked. Fuck no, don’t do a card. Jesus, you wonder why girls think you’re a freak? you do shit like this”
We’re not friends anymore, that was a bit personal - but he’s right. Stay away from a card. Doesn’t matter how class it looks, it will have to match your own drip, and even then if you look good and you still have to give out a card, you’re being a walking red flag.
If you’re thinking of doing business cards, maybe it’s because you feel alienated from people so much you think you have to keep it professional. Be casual, be in lounge mode, like you’re at a bowling alley or something. Confidence isa state of mind, have fun with it, don’t corporatize romance more than it has been
