Sounds like you killed it with the okay in my opinion. You could have just stated your intent right there- “I’ll be honest, I stopped you because I think your kinda cute” or something like that. Or could have just asked another question “what are you up to”?

I don't think asking her nationality is an issue but I would had asked a bit later and you could had expanded on her answer and ask where's she's from, how's she's finding the place and could had used it to make was to ask her out.

She didn't ask what your name was so it's a lack of interest in my opinion. It was best to end it there.

Looks like a job interview. From what you posted, you could've led with this:

You: Do you come here often? Its my first time seeing you here

Her: No, i just moved here recently. Where are you from?

She even threw a question back at you. Opportunity there to spin it into a convo about how she's liking the city, what made her move there, etc.
