I’m 30 and have never had a license due to epilepsy. I’ve spent a lot of time in cities with public transport and it’s never been a problem.

Hell, I’ve dated people in more remote locations to and they didn’t mind driving me around.

If you’re a fun time, and brighten peoples days, it will take you far.

Depends where you live mate, half of this thread is Americans who've never had public transport.

Owning a car is literally a burden in some of these larger European cities so obviously there's no need to learn if you live there.......I travel a bit for work though and when in some of the smaller towns having no car is a fuckin killer when it comes to setting things up compared to when I've got a car.

Are driving lessons a big time investment? Hell, no! I recently got my driver's license, and driving lessons were 1 hour every day for 2 weeks (not on weekends). Man, one of the best investments in my life.

I did it because I just felt stupid by not knowing how to drive, and I always thought, what will I do in a zombie apocalypse if I wanted to escape? Ride a bicycle? Run? Or Pick that car over there and get the fuck out of there?

Next thing for me is to learn how to swim 😁

Driving a car is not that hard and you don't need to spend tens of thousands on a simple vehicle.

You'll never have privacy on a bus or in the back of a taxi/uber.

Consider the following scenario: A tired woman may appreciate a break from the wheel on a long trip. Without a license, you can't help her. She will view you as a chump, and the very thought of you will make her heart unwinnable and her vagina impenetrable.

And this one: Inevitably, someone needs driven to the hospital. The man who makes the drive is hero for a day. The guy who never got off his ass to get a license is a disappointment.

Bro i was driving my dads car without a license since 16 on the streets and freeway i got my license at 18 im 22 now and still dont got my license for my motorcycle or insurance and been driving my bike like it was stolen since 15 if u drive good when a cop is nearby u wont get pulled over. Definitely not a dealbreaker not having a license but not knowing how to drive or scared to probably is how else are you supposed to go on dates you gonna walk? If you’re worried about the money part just buy a motorcycle they are much cheaper in price, gas and they mess up less then cars/easier to fix and you can drive and park on the sidewalk, cut through traffic, And not to mention all the titts you’re gonna be feeling on your back when you give it some gas

If you don’t want to drive, don’t drive.

That said, barring certain medical conditions, driving a car with an automatic transmission is only slightly harder than breathing, and having your own personal transport gives you an enormous amount of freedom.

27 here, I was like you when younger so I'm telling you this out of respect for a similar mindset.

No it's not a deal breaker, especially if you live in areas with good public transport. But your attitude about it will be seen as one. Especially if you talk about it in the same manner as your post. It will be seen as being cheap, and being someone who doesn't want to take responsibility for their own self development. Lack of ambition for something that basic can be a big red flag to others.

I got my license "late" at 23 for a job that required some long distance driving, and I wasn't taught by family due to sheltering on their part. Just like you I didn't care too much beforehand cause cars are both expensive and an ongoing cost, I also wasn't a pseudo home mechanic like some family members, I just wasn't interested in pushing it till a car was required for my life situation. After getting it, you realize a surprisingly large number of people in our gen don't have a license for the same reasons.

You gain freedom of mobility, the ability to take the wheel if a situation calls for it which shows responsibility/forward thinking. You can take friends, family, partners etc etc out on road trips and dates to more iconic spots/areas outside the norm.

Go get the license, it's like some weekend parking lot practice with a family member/friend, and 1-2 hours of theory reading at home with TV in the background at worst before you just go get it. AND it's practice for life long learning which is good for your career and people's outlook on you.

You don't need to own and deal with the expense of a car just cause you got the license either. I've driven my dates cars plenty of times.

You don’t have to own a car, but I think a license is still necessary. How else are you gonna get into a bar after turning 21? Or what if employers ask for it? It’s the main form of ID. Like what are you gonna do, show your passport or birth certificate?

Edit: oh wait you’re European. I don’t know how things are where you live.
