I don't know if you realize this, but that's called a "test". Both the "Oh, is this where you try to pick me up?" and "You don't want anything to do with me" were both attempts to be rude and tease you.

Women "test" you to see if you're a strong man, not be manipulative or whatever. Because lots of guys are great liars, the way to get a good read is to catch them off guard with things like that.

I've had these recently:

Her: Is this how you pick up girls? This is awkward.
Her: What do you do instead of tell girls in grocery stores they look mad cute?

In both instances I ignored the thread - just like a little kid saying a swear word - and carried on vibing with them and escalated the interaction. Those're distractions. Most of the time when a girl tries to bust my balls I just give her a face like this if anything.

Your response was fine, congruent, you weren't hiding your dick, good job. Personally I'd have just ignored it and laughed inside, because that means she was starting to like the way I came off - she wanted to see if I was the real deal. Also I wouldn't have waited so damn long to ask for her name, opens should be really concise -- state your interest, introduce yourself, banter some, get some early investment (e.g. moving), then start vibing.

Some possible responses if I wanted to be a little flirty; reflect her frame and play along with her frame:

"You're the one who brought it up, is that where you think this is going?"
"I have a better question..." knowing smile "Are you here to pick up men like poor ol' defenseless me?"

Nevertheless, good job "jumping in" and talking to a beautiful girl anyways, it can be pretty nerve wracking if you aren't desensitized to the beauty.

I don't see a fail here. It seems like you did everything right. I'm the old you now and would like a chance like that. No number, oh well. It's an exercise I guess. See at least you got a story to tell.

Cant really see anything you did horribly wrong here. You do the same thing to 10 women and 7 will give you their number just based on this info.

Only thing I can tell you is that she seemed like she was challenging your wits when she said "oh this is where you try to pick me up?" (or just annoyed depending on tone...hard to tell here). You did fine. A lesser man would have said no.

Maybe a more fun response would have been something alex0919 said or what came to my mind was:

"Wow, thats a little forward, I mean I usually dont agree to go out with people I just met but yeah I guess we could have coffee sometime."

"No, if I was trying to pick you up I would have said (insert cheesy pickup line here)".

I just realized I ripped both of those off from Crazy Stupid Love...but who cares.
