I think you can get attached to anyone you spend a lot of time with, but in my experience, chemistry or whatever is apparent immediately. I've only met 3 women I felt that with immediately, 2 were girlfriends for 4 years, 1 was a ~6 month fling. Other girls I've dated because they were good on paper but didn't do it for me at first. It never developed.

There are people I’m friends with and with them I had instant chemistry from the beginning, but me and my best friend didn’t have chemistry at first, but we developed it as time went on so it could be related to mutual interest in some cases while others it could be biological

Yes and no. Chemistry is needed for both making partners and friends. There has to be s spark to build upon. Chemistry and sexual attraction is more important in a partner.

I don't know if "mutual interest" is specific enough. Dig up Mystery's info on "survival value and replication value". Chemistry = bidirectional assessment of high value. That's my hot take.

I’m not sure if it’s mutual interest, it might be. I’ve had good chemistry with a few men in my life, one became a fwb for a while but we are still friends after. The chemistry is still there but we both pretend to ignore it most times until it comes back. I wasn’t interested in him until we became friends, so it wasn’t instant.
