Does being snarky ever work?

For instance if they're ghosting you on a dating, sending a ghost busters gif or saying something like 'or alternatively I could go fuck myself I suppose'

Or if they're giving you a shit test you call them out 'oh I take it that was your attempt at making me jealous?'

Could this ever work in your favor or would it always come across as pathetic?
