Does "the game" and "the mustery method" still work or are they outdated in the tinder age?

Mostly outdated. I'd still recommend reading them as they contain a lot of valuable stuff in them in the same way if you were studying psychiatry you'd study Sigmund Freud or if you were studying evolution you'd look up Darwin. Mystery is like one of the grandfathers of pickup - his theories on how to pickup women were the foundations for a lot of the stuff we have today. The Game is like the pickup bible and opens a lot of mens eyes into what is possible when you have a short bald dude picking up some of the most physically attractive women on Earth, it's also a damned good book.

The issues come along when you get to a lot of the canned routines, what place the Mystery Method is coming from and some of the more infamous elements of the Mystery Method like "Negging".

Late into its career a lot of the more popular canned routines and techniques were dragged into the mainstream and the general populous became aware of them, making them lose their effectiveness. There was also the pesky fact that women were hearing the same stuff from different men over and over as they tried it, in fact if you read "The Game" Neil mentions how Project Hollywood had sarged the whole of LA and you couldnt use them anymore because the women had heard them all.

Then there was the place these routines were coming from. The old "I have no idea what to say to his hot lady I'm into" thing. The implication was that you weren't confident and were needy because you needed these things to supplement your boring personality and life. You 100% needed it to go well and used this to avoid rejection. You put on a mask to hide your personality. How unconfident. Neil mentions in The Game how Mystery had quite the share of mental health issues relating to his self-esteem and at the beginning of the book he was being wheeled into a mental health hospital, just for perspective.

Then there's the issue of the more infamous techniques being dragged into the mainstream too, like negging. When you really look at it, you don't need canned routines or techniques when you understand the core principles of what women find attractive and how to generate attraction. If you understand these and make an effort to incorporate them into your personality you WILL get laid. For example, maybe drop the Pokemon t-shirt and buy a tailored suit, as much as I love Pikachu. Don't overtext her when she isn't replying. Have things going on in your life other than her. Have other women in your life, hell, date several at the same time.

Given these things pickup companies like RSD began to move away from the MM model which is funny considering it started as a copy of it and began to shift more on natural and inner game - the concept that if you work on personal development, incorporating attractive principles into your personality and practicing what you learn, you will become successful with women.

The structure is the same, the routines need to be updated.

Pickup is actually more effective today, but overall chicks aren't going out as much - so it's harder to learn.

I feel like the routines themselves are super outdated and just make you look super try hard and a bit unsual. (palm reading every set straight away, magic, weird DHV stories too a girl who doesn't even know you and really isn't interested in hearing these stories and stuff from a complete stranger etc). I should clarify that i'm in Europe though. I can imagine with the way people are much more social in the US it could maybe work a little better, even now, over there

The 'structure' is 'fine' but seemingly completely unnecessary and over-complicated. I mean, we've seen so many PUA's since the mysterymethod days who do things so different (e.g They open in a 'normal' way, they DO show intent before the girl lots of the time, they don't neg, they don't concern themselves too much with qualification, don't disqualify themselves on purpose early in the set, no 'attraction material'm they open the 'target' in a group setting as opposed to the friend etc etc etc) yet still get laid consistently. Thinking about what stage you are in the interaction and thus what you need to do and say next etc is just a bit redundant

Even the basics of the M3 model (attract, comfort, seduce) is not something that all PUA's believe in (Vin Di Calro amongst others for example)

Mystery method works. If it worked 10 years ago why wouldn't it not work now. Female has not changed hardwired psychology has not change in the last ten years and will not change in the next 20 years. I have being using the mystery method and so far I get more results than when doing direct approach.

Hey guys, new to PUA and wondering where would be a good point to start?

I mean RSD, mystery, etc are just names to me at the moment. But whose material is good and worth pursuing?

They work but there are simplified methods out today, so they are also outdated
