Email? Do you mean like text or OLD messages?

Either way, just keep it short and lead the conversation, don't follow their lead.

That doesn't mean you ignore what they say, or disregard them, just that you drive the outcome you want in a manor that allows them to feel comfortable following your lead.

That may sound vague, but that's because it's a framework for a process. Each conversation and each person is different. The best you can do is be consistent in who you are, and your actions.

This video is about texting, but it should convert well enough to emailing as well. The TL;DW is that you need to identify where you are in the texting game and respond accordingly. Also, remember to frame interactions as "hey, I have this position of my girlfriend open, I'm taking applications, and I want to see if you'd fit the part."
