First date in a long time! Advice?

Have several places to go already planned in your head (don't tell her; make it an adventure).
Don't go out to dinner. If you get hungry later in the date, stop in a pizza joint for a slice, or something like that. Stay casual.
No movie. You cannot talk and establish rapport and comfort there.
After you bounce from the first place and walk to the next, extend your arm with a bent elbow so that she takes it. You are leading.
Ramp up the kino a bit more about 1/2 through the time spent at place number two.
Think of cheap places to go: coffee, the park, the museum, bowling, an art opening, etc.
Try to let her do most of the talking at first. Women love to talk about themselves. If she is young (under say 30), slowly let out bits about yourself over the date. If she's older, you can open up more sooner.
If you go to a place to eat/drink, do not sit across from her. Sit next to her. Also, if you get a table for two that has its back to the wall, you sit facing her/the wall at first. Put your attention on her and don't look around. If things are going well, excuse yourself to the bathroom for a minute and when you return sit next to her and turn yourself at about a 45 degree angle to her at first (don't seem intimidating). If she is still receptive, over time you can start to face her more directly. And if you do, light touch her should when you make a point; use a finger to push her hair out of her eyes and behind her ear. Chicks eat that shit up.
After you leave the last place you go, try to hold her hand. If she accepts it and doesn't let go, you are good for the good night kiss. Do it smoothly, confidently, and boldly.

Thread the conversation productively. Get her to qualify herself as much as possible (subtly). Initiate KINO but keep it light at first (due to the alleged shyness). Always assume attraction. The hardest part is over (getting her on a date).

Changing venues halfway trough is great in all kind of subtle ways. Say "let's go to ... it's more ... there" and then do it.

Don't be afraid to make fun of her! Do it while cracking a smile and looking in her eyes though, and it will be conceived as fun and flirty rather than mean. You'll be shocked at this at first, but be bold.
Don't be afraid to talk about your own passions, even if they are 'boring'. Be very interested in what she has to say too, though, and don't interrupt too much.
Get drunk, have fun.

All these comments are pretty good, but it sounds like you haven't read through the sidebar material yet. I would strongly advise doing this instead of just asking for quick tips. You need to get your head right first, then learn the little things. That is what let me begin to help myself and I am very certain you would have a similar outcome.
