Typically introducing yourself leads to them introducing them self. Never have I ever said ‘hey I’m eskeeetiiit’ and gone for a handshake without the girl telling me her name, and if she doesn’t then I think that’s a good sign to bail. And with regards to your question, you knowing them doesn’t mean they know you. Finally if you do know each other what I do is ‘Hey I don’t think we’ve officially met, I’m [name]’ and same results.

I always ask their name even tho I already know them from social media. To them you're a stranger and if you address them by their name their "creep" radar will go off. Play it safe and act as if you don't know who they are.
