Forcing the IOI?

I do it basically every time I'm out somewhere. If the girl makes eye contact while I'm talking to someone (or doing whatever), I can hold eye contact while keeping a straight face (or a mock-glare), I can hold eye contact and smile/smirk, I can give her a little head nod like I'm saying "what's up," I can nod with a "come over here" motion, I can give her a puzzled look that sort of implies "I think you're weird even though I haven't talked to you yet" (I picked that up from my dad), or I can give her one of those "like what you see?" looks. All of those are essentially "forcing the IOI" I guess. They're also just normal communication.

I'm sure I've also waved and done that other shit before, but this type of thing is really insignificant so I can't remember specific times.

Basically if they make eye contact, you acknowledge their presence in some way. If they respond negatively (whatever the hell that could mean), you can still approach and turn it around- which is why you shouldn't really look for IOIs (and I usually have more fun with it when the girl seems negative- you can tease her with "Why were you giving me that look?? I don't like it").

I sometimes give them a quick casual wink and watch how they act over the next few minutes. Even though I usually don't get into the who IOI thing. Over-thinking does not usually help me personally. Gut feeling ftw!
