I had to get some routine blood done, and the blood tests were “fasting” tests so I had to go without having eaten for 12 hours. I arrived semi-delusional from hunger and low blood sugar; and as I'm walking up an elderly lady and her caretaker (HB6) are approaching the door. I held it open for them, and when I get inside the elderly lady grabbed my arm and said “I'm glad there are still young men that are gentlemen these days.” I simply replied “Yes ma'am” signed in and took a seat. The elderly lady gets called back almost immediately and her caretaker comes over and introduces herself. We make a little small talk with her leading the conversation, “How old are you?” “What do you do?” et cetera; and after a few minutes I get called back. I tell HB6 “It was a pleasure meeting you, we should grab coffee sometime. What's your number?” She enthusiastically agrees and we exchange information. Then I go back to get my blood-work done and I see a lovely nurse waiting for me.

The person taking my blood was a cute redhead (HB6, but I have an affinity for gingers so they get 2 bonus points in my book; making her an HB8 to me). As soon as I walked in I asked “Is that your natural hair color?” She said “Yes” sheepishly. I replied with “It looks really good on you.” “Thanks!” She asked me for my birth-date, and after I told her she revealed that she was born on 4/20. Usually I try to avoid negative subjects (there are a ton of tragic events that surround 4/20), but I also don't really give a fuck so I said “I heard that's Hitler's birthday too. I hope you aren't a Nazi!” She laughed and replied that it was also the day of the columbine shooting and the day after Waco and the Oklahoma city bombing. This is where knowing a little about a lot comes in handy. I've found that most people who know about Waco are somewhat anti-government, so I play that angle. I mentioned how unbelievable it was that the government ordered a tank to attack the compound. We talk a little bit and once I start to go outside my realm of knowledge on the subject I thread in a comment about Ruby Ridge and we talk about that for a minute or two. By then she had finished and we got up so she could show me the procedure for the urinalysis. When she was done she showed me where to leave the sample and told me I could go afterwords. With a smile I asked her “So I'm not going to see you again?” She smiled and said “maybe....” Part of my personal style is that I rarely number close a woman at work, instead I reverse number close. I walked over to her and said “I'm going to give you my number, and you're going to text me with your schedule so we can hang out some time.” “Ok” I did my test, left, and by the time I got home she had already sent me a text with her schedule.
