Me and my roommate have been hitting up the local Barnes and Noble to hit on hot nerdy chicks about once a week so Sunday night we went out with one other friend.

He's an AFC and I had to push him to approach, but once he did he hit up an HB5 pretty well and it boosted his confidence a lot.

While he was doing that I was trying to approach really fine olive skinned HB7 in a dress. I failed miserably because I couldn't think of anything to say and I felt like I was stalking her.

I tried to open a 2 set looking at the teen section with my friend (not roommate). The conversation went like this.

Me: Hi, what are you guys looking for?

HB6: Oh, we're just browsing.

Me: Us too.

.....................

Then nothing. I couldn't think of anything to say and my AFC friend didn't say a word the whole time. They moved to the next aisle over and I cursed under my breath and moved on.

After that there weren't many women left to approach so we moved on to the Barnes and Noble on the other side of town.

There was this HB7 there who was a bit taller than me and skinny she was looking good so when she heads into the DVD section I follow her and pretend to look at movies. When I see her grab a stack of Family Guy DVDs I initiate conversation.

Me: You like Family Guy?

HB7: I love Family Guy!

Me: Me too, it's my favor-

Old Guy: (Fucking cuts me off mid sentence from all the way at the registers) HB7 COME GIVE ME A HAND WITH THIS!!!

At this point I just say fuck it and walk away and I'm pretty sure they checked out and walked out. Fucking cockblocking old man.

Right around this time I'm pretty discouraged bc my AFC roommate is doing better than me and the store's getting ready to close. I've passed this group of 2 HB6s and an HB7 a bunch of time while I was scoping the place out and I made great eye contact with the HB7. The only problem was that she looked like she was 15 and her friends didn't really look like my type. I wasn't going to approach them but closing time is coming up and our 2 groups pass by each other once again and HB7 initiates.

HB7: Are y'all going to stalk us all night?

Me: I think y'all are the ones stalking us. (teasing)

HB7: How old are you?

Me: 20... 1... today.

HB7: Happy Birthday

Me: Thanks.

HB7: I'm 17. I'll be 18 on March 1st.

Smalltalk

HB7: Wait it's your 21st birthday and you're in a bookstore? (obvious shit test)

Me: I did more than my fair share of partying last night. You can ask my roommate he drove me home. (Pointing thumb at roommate.)

I think I failed that shit test.

Anyway they say they're going and we say our goodbyes, but I notice them hanging around the CDs so I position my crew in their path and when they come around I say something like, "Are you guys still stalking us?"

I try to get the whole group talking, but it's mostly me and the HB7. She says they're going to see Ted and we talk about what we've heard about and then her friends start pressuring her to leave so I say, "Why don't I give you my number and you can tell me how the movie was?" She says sure and I put myself in her phone as book store guy.

She texted me later and I've since disqualified her as a dating option for being too religious and uptight. Also, kinda young.
