To understand the context of this approach you must know that I work at grocery store. I'm also 19 years old (turning 20 in 2 weeks) and I'm new to pick up. This is also 2 reports both relating to the title.

FR1

Last night at work I was pushing carts and I saw these two cute girls go into the store and get approached by two guys. My co-worker told me that the kid who approached was gay and just happened to know them so it wasn't actually a pick up. So I thought sweet maybe I'll get to talk to them inside if I finish pushing carts. Didn't happen.

On their way out I watched as they moved toward their car (away from me) about to go approach them when one of them calls out to me asking my name. So I teased them and said something along the lines of "don't walk away and talk to me, are scared?" They laughed and started making their way toward me. They started telling me that they almost hit me on their way in while I was running across the lot and that they were sorry. I let them know it was no big deal, made some jokes and they kept laughing. One girl said that I looked like I was having a good time pushing carts and that I loved my life (which is true.) So I kept making playful jokes administering light kino. The other girl pinched my sweater and asked why I wasn't wearing a coat and conversation insued (mainly them asking questions about me ever so eagerly) and I kept feeding them answer. Then abruptly

I said, "so you girls are cute what's your phone numbers?" Them "Phonenumbers?" "Fine, what you're phone number" (pointing to the cuter of the two) "How old are you?" still laughing and smiling "I'll be 20 in two weeks, how old are you?" "I can't tell you! Guess." "23?" "that's nice of you, but no." "I don't care how old you are" laughter "well, I can't give you my phone number, but we'll be back to see you real soon!"

She basically played it off as I'm too old for you, without saying. I come to find out after from my friend, the girl is only about a year older than me.

Where I went wrong: -I revealed to much information about myself, didn't find out enough about them -I abruptly asked for a phone number without reason

Looking back I should have said something along the lines of, "hey, I have to get back to work, but we'll exchange numbers and we'll see eachother soon."

FR2

After work my co-worker and I had plans with 2 other girls we had met at the mall while they were working. Keep in mind I'm almost 20. These girls ditzy as fuck. And were only 17. I'm too old for them. Again, I need to work on finding out more information about girls before I grab the number. One girl, we'll call her Jen was seeing someone (she was also in minor turmoil because the guy she likes was acting like a tool, so she had a slightly negative mindset, which progressively got worse), which I did know prior, so my focus was on her friend. My buddy being a good wing made this possible.

DISCLAIMER: I personally only try for girls who are 18+. It's not illegal where I'm from, but I find it weird because I have a 17 year old younger brother. The reason I'm posting this is because I thought it was good practice.

The friend, call her Sarah, was eyeing me all night, but wasn't responsive to much kino. (I don't think that I was coming on too strong, but it's definitely a possibility.) While smoking weed and cigarettes I wasn't wearing a jacket so I pulled both girls into me, but eventually Jen backed off so I turned my attention to Sarah. Once inside I sat next to her and she held my hands to keep them warm. When I tried to escalate slightly, she didn't respond. At all. She didn't pull away she didn't reciprocate. I'm think maybe she didn't want to do anything when Jen was sitting right next to her. The fact that Jen was also feeling sad about the guy she liked this may have also put her into "consoling friend" mode rather than the "let's have a good time." mindset.

Toward the end of the night my wing was getting her into a good mood and we're about to start having a good time. In my head I thought he was friendzoning himself so I said something to make her doubt herself again. His play was to get her into a good mindset and then make a move.

This is kind of side note, but I thought it was hilarious. Throughout the night we were trying to get them into the hot tub. We were all going to go in our underwear. So when they were about to leave we asked one more time to see if they wanted to stay. I personally didn't care if they wanted to or not, because I wanted to go in regardless. So I stripped down to my boxers. They didn't stay. We said our goodbyes and had a group hug. Then me and my buddy went hot tubbing.

I learned from this, you need to find out a few key things before you progress, and telling people your life story is a horrible idea. Again, I'm still new to pick up, but I'm learning.
