One of the hardest lessons for me to learn has been how to balance pushing a girl away and reeling her in. Before I stumbled on the community, I was always super nice to girls. Of course that didn't get me anywhere, and so when I started trying to change my AFC ways, I went way too far in the other direction. Here is an example from about a year ago of how I built attraction with a girl very quickly, and then lost it just as quickly by being a huge dick :D

Out with some friends celebrating my birthday. I feel great, and am so massively hammered and stoned that I don't give a fuck what I say or do to anybody. I get up and head to the bar for a drink, and one of my female friends comes with. She is a gorgeous girl (definitely rate her a 10) but we really are just good friends. Having her along is great for social proof though.

The bar is pretty crowded, and there is this group of HB7-8s blocking the way. You can see one dark-haired HB8 collecting money and drink orders from the rest. She seems like the one in charge. So I push her (not enough to hurt, but hard enough to move her) and yell "MOVE!"

She flips out, asks me who the hell I think I am. I ignore her, look at her friends and ask something like "wow is she always this high strung?" One of them laughs with this sort of bemused smile, and says yes.

The girl is still freaking out. She asks my hot friend if she is my girlfriend. Friend says no, we are great friends though (if I'd been thinking, I would've said no before letting her say it). I walk on to the bar. The HB8 follows me.

Within 30 seconds she has touched me on the arm, the shoulder, brushed her hair back, touched me on the arm again, asked me my name. It is just a storm of IOIs. So, like a champ, I refuse to tell her my name, yell at her some more for getting in my way, and order my drinks. She stomps off.

A little while later the light goes off in my head. I should go talk to this girl, maybe try to reel things back. So I head over, she has this big smile on her face. I tell her I've decided to give her a second chance, but she needs to apologize for being rude first. She tells me she will, but only if I apologize. So I yell at her some more, she storms off again. And glares at me every time she sees me for the rest of the night.

tl;dr Being an asshole is not the same as being alpha. Reward IOIs, don't just keep pushing a girl away.
