Neither of these options is good. Making an ultimate plan lets the opportunity slide by, and asking her if she's single and interested right off, is a great way to lower your odds.

You don't really know that girl. So asking if she's interested is putting the cart before the horse. YOU don't even really know if she's interesting to you until you talk to her.
She doesn't know YOU yet. So asking her if she's interested at that point, is pointless.
Asking if she's interested is also awkward. She'll show you that she is.
Asking if she's single is pointless. If she is, you didn't need to ask. If she isn't, she'll tell you.

What you do is start a conversation. See if YOU are still interested in spending more time with her. IF you are, then you do a number exchange before you leave.

Then while out with her one on one, you physically escalate carefully and slowly. Like it says in the sidebar. This is the least controversial thing ever. We all know that this is how they'll show they are truly interested, is in their response to escalation. So asking if she's interested upfront when you first meet her, will come off awkward.

This is one of those things everyone always hears but you really gotta go through it for it to sink in: THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN IS SHE SAYS NO AND YOU MOVE ON.

Sure. We agree on this. Get in there and try. But don't let desperation lead to you skipping steps that don't need to be skipped. One thing at a time. The world won't end if you simply talk to a girl and get a number, while suggesting that you meet up later. You don't need to ask her if she's interested. She'll reject you if so. Don't worry about asking if she's single. She'll let you know.

If you see a cute girl act as if you will never see her again and go for it.

Don't just act like it, but realize that you actually never see her again in most cases. Great post buddy, I could write a full book about opportunities with girls that I never took and never saw again.

I NEED to seriously adapt this mindset. I'm not getting any younger and the excuses continue to pile up. Tired of holding myself back for nothing. Your post simply reinforces how much time I've wasted talking myself out of approaching. Thanks for the post.
