A major flaw I used to do, and still do to an extent, was not going with the flow of the conversation.

An example of this would be someone telling a story and you interject to inform them that something they said wasn't true. Even if you are right it still screws up the message of the interaction and leaves a bad taste in the mouth of everyone involved.

Another way of thinking about this is logic vs emotion. Logic messes with the flow of emotion. If you're trying to have a fun interaction with someone there's really no need to use logic at all.

This approach also compliments the "free association" concept which RSD is known for. One of the cornerstones of this method is that it's more effective to say something nonsensical than to search inside your head for the "correct" words to say. This is a way of going with the flow of conversation instead of being logical.

One of the main difficulties of changing this behavior of course is being able to tell when you're going to do it and then saying something else. This is of course a logical behavior in itself but is only a temporary process while the underlying mindset is changed.

I find that since learning this my conversations seem to require much less effort and people are more interested in speaking to me. This in turn boosts confidence which is what everybody is actually looking for lol. This skill has benefitted me a lot 🙂
