In my experience, if you get a girls number within the 1-3 minute range, a quick transaction, you better text her within 10 minutes of meeting her. If you wait a day, she'll either forget who you were or some other reason as to why she shouldn't pick up the phone. With a quick phone grab, it's a numbers game and the odds are not in your favor.

If you talk to her for more than 3 minutes, let's say for about 10-15 before grabbing her number, she should feel comfortable around you. You should have made her laugh at least 3-4 times and she'll be inclined to see you again. Just remember, text/call soon after you meet them. I'll usually make plans right then and there about an upcoming date. Don't just grab her number and become a ghost for a week.

The more time passes between you two, the less likely she will to meet up/pick up/answer a text.

Girls will give you their number whether they want you or not.

You need to build attraction first. Try to spend more time talking to these girls before (and/or after) you get their number.

I've gotten a lot of numbers that lead to nothing, and you will too. If a girl won't talk to me/set up a date with me, I move on and talk to new girls.
