Is it really just a numbers game

Its only a numbers game if you don't put in the effort to refine your ability to communicate with women or if you do but you measure that not with how women react to you but with the opinions of other dudes.

Anyone who has been cold approaching for a while will know that getting numbers is the easiest way to make people think you're a ladies man even if you've been on a dry spell for years.

Getting a number doesn't really mean anything and shouldn't be your goal, when girls aren't feeling you sometimes they just humor you and give you a fake number to get rid of you.

To them its a much easier way to deal with a stranger hitting on them than to just be upfront with their rejection because unfortunately, as reasonable as you probably are, there are just some dudes that flip out when they get rejected and if she's a girl that a lot of guys find attractive she has likely had experiences with guys like that.

Another possibility is that she gave you her real number but in the hours it took for you to message her, her feelings of excitement and arousal died down and she realized you were just fun in the moment but there was no real connection there.

I don't know where guys on this sub get advice but there seems to be this phobia here around being friendly with women.

I've known since I was a virgin learning seduction that we aren't one-dimensional and just because you're being friendly and having a normal getting-to-know-you conversation doesn't mean you can't also be flirty at the same time.

I mean, what's stopping you from starting at her lips while talking about her favorite TV shows or fondling her back while talking about what she likes to do on weekends??

If you want more "solid" numbers don't be afraid to spend time actually getting to know each other, finding out what you have in common and building that connection, that plus proper flirting is a much more potent mix and its the connection that really helps maintain that attraction and makes her much more likely to respond when you message her.

If you really wanna make sure she responds then on top of building a connection go straight into nailing down plans.

Not "grab some food sometime", actually nail down the specific food place, the specific date, and the specific time right then and there, doing that will make exchanging numbers a matter of necessity.

If she does that with you odds are really high that she'll give you a real number and that she'll respond when you message her.

If you wanna make extra sure start texting her right then and there too. Just do something fun like talking about something private in a playful way or make jokes about people right next to you. I've never had a girl not respond later in the day after I did this.

Besides, when you do that and you text her again when you're apart, she won't see an empty thread and a single message from some stranger, she'll see a thread that already has a conversation in it and responding to you then will just feel like she's picking up where you guys left off.

Edit: The example convo by CompetitionFair7686 was a good illustration of flirting and getting to know each other at the same time. The only critique I have is I would find out more about her instead of just finding out one thing (she's a nurse) and then being too focused on just flirting.

My convo would look more like the "bad" example but with the flirting from the "good" example added in.

Girls give out the number many times because they know they will get rid of the guy quickly by doing that, since they know that’s all the guy cares about, getting the number.

Also, girls are experts at faking interest when talking with a guy, they may smile, be polite, and pretend to be interested when deep inside they are like:

“This guy is so annoying and boring, hope he goes away soon, maybe if i give him my number and then ghost him he will leave me alone”

Most inexperienced guys tend to confuse basic politeness or friendliness of a girl for genuine attraction.

Either she is testing you or she gave you the wrong number. You respond accordingly, as long as it isnt obsessively.

Curious as to why some girls give numbers when they don’t respond.

it's just a simple rejection. MAYBE she was down to instadate & fuck the day you approached but she rejects you next day .

the girl that harshly reject me today , COULD be down to fuck me if i approached 3 days ago .

rejections happen all the time . it's easier for her to give you the number & then ghost rather than doing it to your face .
