Is this even possible? (And no, escorts or prostitutes don't count.)

I was having a discussion in the Asperger's reddit, about standards and whether mine are too high, etc.

One Aspergian guy who is allegedly very experienced with dating told me essentially this: "Those mainstream women who put effort into their appearance, especially the attractive ones.. yeah, they're not going to be interested in a socially awkward guy."

On that I agree and mostly have no qualms with that, because I would have zero compatibility with such a girl anyway.

But by the same token--and he didn't elaborate--does that mean I need to have extremely low standards and just take what's offered? Online, the only types so far who shows interest is 40+, often married with 3 kids, and they're not my type. I don't want to be politically incorrect. I'll just say I haven't found any of them physically attractive, at all.

Here's the rub. I've found I can't have "rock bottom" standards. I need there to be SOME slight spark of attraction, otherwise I just can't get interested. My only standard is this: she looks "okay," and I prefer them not to be married and raising a family. I don't think this constitutes "high standards."

And yet.. why is it I can't find any girl interested who is even "okay-looking"? I care very little for anything else, she can be the most boring person in the world, and have very poor fashion sense, socially awkward, anxiety-ridden, or whatever. I know all of these things are deal-breakers for many guys here, but not for me. At least then I'd have a lot more in common.

TL;DR Is it possible for an average, socially awkward guy to be with an attractive woman? Assuming not, does that mean such a guy cannot even afford to have ANY standards at all?
