I am disappointed; more with myself than the outcome of the situation. I thought she was different and it would be worth taking a different (nice guy) approach for this simple girl, but I learned otherwise. I won't go in to further details since it is better to learn from it and move on. So here is what I learned from this episode and swear to not let myself repeat it:

  • Never ever go against your gut feeling. If you have a strong feeling about something, trust it. Trust yourself always and make informed decisions - you will not regret it.

  • This is a big one that I realized from my situation: Never ever give anyone too much affection, attention and time too soon. Regardless of the gender, everyone wants some degree of "the thrill of the chase" and the sexual tension. No one is different when it comes to this.

  • Letting your intentions known as early as possible is good, but also make sure they have the same intentions to avoid misunderstandings and confusions in the relations.

  • Try not to strongly pursue girls recovering from a recent breakup - it is a high risk situation. You risk being a friend who fills in the emotional void left from the previous relationship.

  • Do not let your emotions cloud your judgement under any circumstances. No matter how bad the situation, always take a moment to calm yourself down and make a decision that you won't regret later. (I cut all ties once I realized my relationship with the girl wasn't heading where I wanted it to. It was tough, but I did not let my attachment to her convince me stay as a friend).

  • Once you make a decision, stick with it unless you feel there is something majorly wrong with it. If you make a mistake, learn from it and do not to repeat it.

Feel free to add to this from your own experiences.

EDIT: My title says heartbroken, but it is more of a disappointment because I was looking forward to date this girl.
