It definitely depends on your age. I would say to not put too much pressure on the labels early in the relationship, and to have an honest conversation early on about what you're looking for. Yes, this includes the potentially awkward conversation about how much they want to be seeing other people vs just you. If you want a long term relationship you can pick up on clues early on. Does she seem to put more emphasis on going out with her friends vs hanging out with you? Does she want to chit chat with you over text and not just meet up and fuck? Does she do little kind things for you like get you gifts or tell you she was thinking about you, or call you pet names like "baby"? These are all indicators which can signal early on into knowing someone what they are really looking for whether they know it or not.

Basically, date a bit and let things progress as they will. If you all start sleeping together, make sure you're on the same page. I wouldn't rush into "let's be super serious" but a straightforward conversation about exclusivity and expectations is good here.

Good luck to you buddy, it takes cojones to know that you want a real relationship and go for it when a lot of men are scared of the commitment and will chide you for going for something they don't have the courage to attain. Personally I love having a girlfriend vs just random hookups but it took me a long time to figure this out about myself.

Is this asking for stories of advice? I've had both happen to me. If I asked it's because it's what I really wanted after a few weeks or months of dating. If the girl is asking our status, that's because I haven't given her any LTR signals -- and it's not gonna go LTR.

LTRs are started as polarized LTRs from the beginning. You'll get shit loads of rejections.
