Its like skydiving, or tearing off a bandaid, or jumping into freezing water. Better to do it quickly than think about it too long.

Start small - give yourself the goal to go up to 3 women in a day and introduce yourself. "Hi my name is [something other than PissOff], what's your name". If they tell you their name (and most will), say "nice to meet you" and walk off without saying another word. If someone grabs you and demands an explanation, tell them you are very shy and working to get over it - there isn't a person in the world who wont be supportive of that.

That's it - you have approached. Once you are comfortable introducing yourself, you can think about where to take the conversation next. But, you must first be comfortable introducing yourself, so work towards doing it every chance you can. Shopkeepers, waitresses, friends of friends, coworkers, everyone. Your only goal is to introduce yourself and to become perfectly comfortable doing it.

Some people might think it a bit weird a guy introducing themselves and walking off, but don't worry about that, this is an exercise to benefit you and your confidence, not them. People doing squats look weird to me. This is a confidence squat.

Yes set a goal. Start small though. And keep an eye out for opportunities in your daily life for approaching girls.

When I was a freshman, I had a goal to approach 3 girls a week and it worked great for me. And I'm not just talking about easy situations like a circle in a party where I already know half the ppl. School cafeteria was my prime time, ppl observing food, slowly walking by, waiting in line, great place to start talking to a girl. A few times when I felt good I even took my trey and just sat on the table of a lone girl after asking a warm "Can I join you?".

You don't need a plan, you just need to approach! Telling yourself "I will make a plan" is just an excuse to avoid approaching, so just approach! You already do have a plan, or you could easily make up a plan this very second.

You are over thinking this. Just do it. Why stop at one girl? Just go out, and open the cute ones.
