As a TA myself, dating undergrads while the class is going on is not allowed due to the conflict of interest. But if the class is almost over then it should be OK. Maybe request a short, private office hours session and then just be direct and ask her to come out for coffee sometime after the class is over.

If a teacher is in a position of authority over you, teaching you in a class and giving grades, going out with you could ruin her career. Almost every college has rules about this, she would lose her job.

Consider what you're telling her: dating you is worth risking her career. I assure you, you're not worth it.

If you really have to try, wait until after you're no longer in her class. And even then, only if you're not in the same department.

TAs are anecdotally not the best targets. They are exposed to a lot of people and I've heard uncountable stories of some shy little freshman asking them out. I'm not saying it's impossible. Reading your post, it seems like you'll need better inner game before you do any approaching. Also, there's no timing to approaches. Just do it.

Go into the city tonight and hit on beautiful women using the techniques and mindsets you have learned here. If the goddess of luck smiles upon you, you will be calibrated in the morning and may lay your TA. I'm afraid there is no alternative solution. You know your theory. Now you need to learn through doing.

Just ask her out. Objectively, you're needy so it probably won't work out. Obviously you want to simultaneously be able to acknowledge the objective reality, and be entirely certain that she's hurting to have sex with you immediately. That's something you'll learn to do with time. For now be completely genuine and ask her out.

If she says no, you get | | much closer to getting laid with a great girl. That's what rejection does, it gives you the ability to give fewer fucks with the next girl. Just remember, if you don't do it, you're missing out on a learning experience and that momentum.

Seriously, it only takes a couple of seconds for you to drop a line like "how about a coffee sometime?" or so.

Your goal should be to ask! If you do that, you've accomplished your goal and have mastered the challenge. This is what this situation is really about.

It really doesn't matter how she responds at this point. You've already waited waaaay too long. So please don't focus on the outcome of this one specific situation. This is not about her but much more about you! Don't create another bad experience of being too shy to approach. This has got to stop now.

Just ask yourself, a week from now, what will you wish you had done?

Also, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, and I think we can all agree that we rather have a definite NO than carrying around the uncertainty of "what if" for the rest of your life...

So just fess up and do it!

Being the same age as her helps a lot.

I was a TA and I would get asked out by one or more of my students pretty much after every semester. She's probably used to it so you don't have to be too nervous.

It probably helps if you got good grades in her class. If you didn't, well, she may still be interested physically, but I dunno how appealing it is to date someone who doesn't get the subject you were passionate enough about to go into grad school for.

Oh, DON'T ask her out after your last class if you still have papers to be graded/finals to take (that she is responsible for), etc. This will make it awkward for her. Email her after the grades are in and ask her for coffee.
