Last Friday I went out to a pub with a group of friends. 2 random girls sat on the table beside us, and my female friend pointed at them and urged myself and my friend to approach them. My friend chickened out saying he had no idea what to say. So I approached them immediately, without skipping a beat.

So there I am, trying to chat up 2 girls by myself. They would respond to my attempts at conversation but would not carry it themselves. My female friend beckoned me back because she said they weren't in to me. Fair enough. But my exit strategy was like that penguin meme. I have no idea how to disconnect from a failed encounter without making myself look awkward as fuck.

Why do I want to know this? Because when you are surrounded by people... Even taking rejection smoothly helps your case.

Also, if you need more info on the situation, just ask. I'll respond to your comments.
