Start to do things for yourself more often. Build your self-confidence. The problem with "nice guys" is that they are too agreeable and will do anything to please others. Often times this result in a person who lacks any sort of unique personality cuz they just do what others are doing. Try to change your opinon on rejection, truth be told I don't believe that you can have a friendship-type relationship with someone you got rejected by b/c she is not into and probably never will and you will spend too much time invest in this one person. It's certainly easier to type this out than it is to do in practice but I hope this helps.

Try to stop fearing the rejection and be confident that you are fine enough by yourself. Someone turning you down does not say anything about your self worth. Please don't stop being nice, just try to recognize that you don't need a woman's attention in order to feel happy.

I'm gonna assume that you're just trying your best to be liked by everyone? If so, stop immediatly. The moment people actually dislike you, is the moment you're doing good. If it's the majority, then it's no good.
Find a balance is being true and harsh at times needed, and ''nice'' at other times. Make sure they're justified. When people say ''being'' the nice guy, just spells out lack of confidence.

A good start is to read "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Robert Glover. By the end of the book you'll definitely start questioning your self limiting behaviors and beliefs at the very least and if you take it to heart you'll make a lot of positive changes. Start doing things for yourself. I once spent weeks saying no to any and everything, not because I didn't want to do it but to get in the habit of saying no until I was comfortable with it. Don't be afraid to tease girls or not agree. You stand a much better chance even if you anger her than you ever would simply being a lamp. Also another good book is Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. Hope that helps!

If you act like a friend you end up in the friend zone. If you don't want to be just friends then don't act like a friend
Act like a romantic interest. Show your intent. You can do this in a nice way. But not in a friendly way

Being nice is not bad, being naive on the other hand...

OP, if you want a real answer, listen to /u/WokeKemosabe and buy "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Robert Glover. I own the book and owe a huge amount of my success to it. Seriously, buy it.

Start negging the shit out of girls and practicing push-pull that you'll be comfortable enough to do it.
At one point, you'll go overboard and you'll have to learn how to calm down a bit. At an advanced level you'll be able to find the proper ratio between value and comfort
