Lol. I like how you practically say "I failed" then claim you're gifted at conversation. It's okay, I'm here to help.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark, and assume that you were nervous on your date. Subsequently your witty comments were in fact cutting her off, and she didn't feel compelled to keep talking because you kept interrupting. So the first thing is finding topics that she actually wants to talk about. The easiest way is to ask. You're looking for her passion, and then you're going to dig a deep hole of conversation about it.

How to talk: simply put, research shows that "Interesting" people allow the people they converse with to talk about themselves almost twice as much as them. So there's the first key; make her speak. Secondly is actually make her want to speak, because let's be honest, simply asking questions gets REAL boring, real fast.

So this is what you do. When she talks, you listen (lots of guys think they are, but they're not), and when she finishes, you acknowledge what she's said, and relate. It doesn't matter if you know NOTHING about what she said, because you be honest and say:

"Oh, that's really cool, I don't actually know anything about competitive knitting. Tell me about it?"

Alternatively if you or your friends are huge competitive knitters:

"That's so cool. I actually have a friend who was a semi finalist in the state championships. How long have you been doing it for?/What got you into it?/What is it that makes you come back for more?/What are the competition like?"

I'll say this again and again; its not what you say, its how you say it.

If you're analyzing every word you say and constantly wondering "Does she think I'm weird for asking that? What will she think if I say this? I hope what I'm about to say doesn't offend her," everything you are saying is going to come out wrong and flawed, because you're too busy walking on eggshells instead of just being you and being real with her.

You know how a lot of the advanced pickups are good at this stuff? Its a combination of (a) experience (b) confidence and (c) showing their confidence through their actions and words. In the end, it doesn't matter what they say, what lines they use, what questions they ask; it all comes down to how they say it. Be confident in what you say and she looks at you weird, continue to give no fucks. Be self-assured.

I believe im a naturally gifted conversationalist, im able to make people laugh easily, think of things to say quickly, am witty etc... but it did not come out when I was talking to that girl. I was just reactive to her her questions and didn't really impress her or make her feel attraction towards me. How can I be smooth as fuck with my words and have women want me after having a conversation with them?

do you see how bad you were trying to impress her? that's your problem, not your conversational skills.
