Be more clear that you are looking for a quick fling instead of trying to dance around it with calculated conversational topics. You also don't have to pay $60 to $100 per date. You're allowed to just go on a walk or talk on park benches, etc. Free dates are fine if you communicate ahead of time. If you're a college kid, it's expected you'll have limited finances.

Anything that sparks positive emotions, isn't boring and no super deep or philosophical/spiritual talk. Slowly developing that to physical touch and then after that I personally prefer to do the first kiss in public cause it indicates bravery and induces excitement if timed right. Then again none of this is a rule of thumb and it's heavily dependent on the vibe.
