Forget the standard 'don't dip your pen in the company ink' answers.

For one it's kind of hypothetical, and secondly, companies don't care about this kind of thing where I live

But say you start working at a shop or something, and there's some gorgeous girl already working there.

General pickup advice seems to be to show your intent early to avoid being friendzoned etc (say when meeting a girl in a bar) but I can't help thinking that that would seem a bit odd at the workplace?

Like, I imagine walking in on my first day, being introduced to the hot girl, and being like ''Hey! You're kinda cute. What do you do for fun. We should hang out. Give me your number bla bla bla''

plus, I also note that most work hookups from what my friends have told me, seem to happen after working together for quite a while. Maybe some very light flirting and then there might be a company night or something where everyone gets drunk, and THEN they hook up.
