It depends where you do it. If it's on or close to a campus and your of similar age, you'll have decent results if you're average looking and approach a bit with zero outcome dependence. Women either care about height because they are shallow, and the ones that don't might even find it hot that you have confidence to approach them.

To be fair, if I "approach" around campus I don't go full direct, more of a social type game. I only do full direct in places that I don't go to often. Rejection is better than regret.

Hey man, its going to be a lot tougher if you're short but its definitely possible. But be ready for a 1-2 year long commitment going out consistently before seeing results.

I know a short asian guy whose 5'4 that met his girlfriend through cold approach.

It's hard in the beginning, you might have a lot of approach and rejection anxiety. But a solution for that is how you define your success with women, I'd suggest define it as easy as possible eg: just going and asking her for directions. Then once you're comfortable with that you can increase the challenge level slowly. With time you'll be in a position to stop her pay a compliment, generate a nice conversation etc. It's more like the gym, slowly increasing weights and being consistent.
