If that feels awkward, start looking between their eyes. It's perceived as looking them in the eyes. However, I really do recommend maintaining eye contact in all interactions. Really tells you a lot about them and says a lot about you as a person.

I thought it's important, but I've been doing this for so much time and it come to my conclusion you should focus on your task, since turning your head in the street everytime you try to make eye contact with everyone is creepy AF.

Don't measure yourself, but only try to make eye contact in the middle of the street with those you find really attractive, and don't stare (or do wtf you want to).

About feeling uneasy while doing eye contact just keep doing until it becomes normal, which happens fast.

NOT making eye contact is weak. Making overly aggressive eye contact is threatening. You should make eye contact with everyone; this shows dominance and fearlessness. If you are attracted to someone, maintain eye contact for just an extra second, and smile. This shows unmistakeable interest without being frightening.

I think there's a "four second rule" for eye contact but I'm not 100% sure.
