I don't think there is a set time, and it depends on what happened. If you were a little needy, then it might be wise to wait a while. If you were killing it, you probably want to strike quick. Just off hand i would say maybe between 3-10 days you want to start setting up another one. It really just depends though.

Ideally you want to kind of bridge this thing on the first date. Bring it up in conversation and say something like "we're going to do [blah] next week". If she's real into you, she will probably make a comment on the first date about how she wants to see you again, but definitely don't let it stop you if she doesn't.

I think 3-7 days is usually about right. It's good that you're busy. When I was going on a ton of dates, I'd just say "I should be free Wednesday, want to grab a drink?" if she's busy, I'd just propose the next day I was free. Ideally it's like 3-4 days after the first day I was free, it shows that I have a lot going on and if she doesn't fit herself into my schedule it's not going to happen for her. If the date went well and she wants to see you again, showing that you have options and a full life will make her want you more. I never thought twice about setting the second date a day or two after the first, odds are good I wouldn't be free much after that so it didn't much matter, since she'd find out I was busy doing shit and wasn't overly invested in her right off the bat. That's the vibe you want: busy with a full life. It strikes the balance where she is chosen by a high value guy, but not needed by him, which is perfect.

Remember that for girl, first dates usually suck, and some of them are flat out creepy or dangerous. Being a cool, confident dude with a full life is rarer than you'd think for these girls, it's important to remember that.

Immediately thank her for a nice time on the 1st date and recount something unique & special. Continue to show appropriate romantic interest. Either during that conversation or within 2-3 days, setup a 2nd date for the next weekend, in general.
