How to make people feel COMFORTABLE when asking about them?

Hey I feel the same and would like to know as well. From my experience, a lot of them get nervous when I ask them questions about themselves. Maybe they feel they are lesser value?

I went out with this girl and she could barely look me in the eye, she was literally looking straight while I sat diagonal to the side of her during coffee.

You think it's weird and unnatural, so it is! Self-limiting belief.

Ask them about their favorites in a common topic area:

food, movies, tv, activities, places to travel, etc. Ask what they are passionate about. ask them what inspires them.

it all comes down to to how you ask. if you ask personal question out of no where it would be uncomfortable. if you lead to the question it will be the natural progress of the conversation.

sample:

Y: how are you?

H: I am good, how are you?

Y: I am doing fine, [you tell story] just visited my family other day and my father said... bla bla bla

H: oh really.. thats cool.. [she respond with give some thing back]

Y: Don't you wonder how people, care for their family and bla bla bla [ get deeper]

H: I guess so.. bla bla bla [if it clicks with her she will talk more]

Y: How you deal with.. bla bla bla ? [relate to feeling you want her to feel]

H: bla bal bla [her life story]

Y: [shut the fuck up and listen, at this point you just lead her to what you want to know about her / her interest, hobbies, dreams, and passion]

tltr: you lead to the personal question.
