Always thinking

“I should’ve said that…”

“I should’ve broke the touch barrier today…”

“I shouldn’t have been that direct with her”

“I shouldn’t have seemed that disinterested. Now she lost interest.”

“I shouldn’t have smiled at her too much”

“I shouldn’t have made that cringy joke that didn’t land.”

“I shouldn’t have exposed my intentions this early. Now she knows I like her and is disinterested.”

“I should’ve been more talkative.”

“I shouldn’t have been so nice.”

“I shouldn’t have been so mean.”

“I should’ve touched her this way instead of that way.”

“I shouldn’t have seemed that anxious.”

“I should’ve been more funny. Made more jokes.”

“I wish I didn’t stutter as much.”

“I wish I went to the gym before I talked to her so I felt more confident.”

“I should’ve complimented her.”

“I shouldn’t have complimented her.”

Etc

Obsessive things like these are what ruins me.

I KNOW people aren’t perfect, so why am I obsessing over mistakes? How can I not only stop this but take my mistakes light-hearted and laugh at myself in a good way.

Context: I notice that I only obsess over people who I think I could’ve had. (the ones who got away). I also think that my obsession stems from a fear of abandonment. If day 1 I have great interactions with her I feel good. Day 2 have terrible interactions(I’m not witty, smooth, etc like day 1) then I heavily fear that she won’t be sexually interested in me anymore. All it takes is one interaction fuck up and I fear for her emotions being completely turned off by me.

How to stop this habit? I’m way too hard on myself… and if it was her who fucked up then I’d give her the benefit of the doubt…
