It's more efficient, and it's nice to have that opportunity to be picky, but think about it the other way. If I spend 10 minutes going through the app and liking girls, and none of them like me, fine. But that means I'm the first thing 100 girls will see, so at least I know I'm getting my profile in front of girls I think are cute. If you are more selective that reduces the number of girls who are seeing your picture, which in turn reduces the number of matches you have. Capiche?

This is an interesting comment, and one that I think you should think about. I can't extrapolate too much, but one of the biggest points in the whole seduction community is that you should be outcome independent. That whether you get the girl or don't get the girl, you're ego is unnattached. There might not be anything wrong with using tinder as a pure ego boost (in fact I would guess that a majority of people use it that way), but if you're part of the seduction community I think this is counter productive, especially if you are working at letting go of the ego boost when your actually out meeting people.

I've noticed that the ego boost I receive from Tinder has really boosted my attractiveness to the other sex... before I had a hard time accepting others found me attractive, now suddenly I have twenty matches and the resulting boost has made me more relaxed, confident, and outcome independent- I haven't felt stressed out or nervous about being a bar for weeks.

that's so interesting and super helpful to know!
On the other hand, can someone explain how accurate the "last active" entry in people's profile is? For example, I have just started using Tinder today about 6 hours ago, yet 2 of my 3 first matches are from people that have an entry in their profile that says: Active: 20 (or 22) hours ago. Which implies they liked me before I even had a profile? Is it maybe the case that sometimes the "Active" field does not get updated? Anyone else encountered that?

Is your Tinder on Android or iOS? On Android I can't see any Last Online status or anything?

One really easy way to communicate that you're not desperate is just to wait several days after a match. Most girls won't start a conversation with you, so after 3 days when you finally say something, you're communicating that your life is not about this app, you're probably off doing something amazing. Esp. considering most people get notifications, it starts you off with the two of you both having liked each other, but due to your delay, puts you on the higher ground again where she needs to prove herself.
[–]kotdfmo[S] 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Sure, you could do that and I'm sure you will communicate non neediness. But if you open with something absolutely absurd, even immediately after the match, it also communicates non neediness. By opening with the absurd, it communicates "I don't care if you respond or not, this app is ridiculous and I'm going to treat it that way." Your strategy works too though, I've done that as well.
[–]proexploit 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Great point. I guess it all depends on your followup. It's two different types of non-neediness which is nice.

Fail comment. That's not how girls' brains work. Trust me.

Spot on! With the way tinder works keeping a girls interest is #1, other wise your just dust in the wind. I definitely think that standing out from the rest is important but mystery is also key. In tinder you don't know jack shit about each other. You could be a fucking astronaut or ditch-digger for all she knows. This is where the mystery lies. Take advantage of that and use it to create interest. (Ex. If she asks what you do, don't reply "I'm a bus boy at x restaurant". Say something more goofy that's obviously not what you do so you can joke about it and keep her guessing "I lick stamps for a living, it can get really tough some days" (not the best but you get the idea)). Just like you said don't joke about this too often b/c it's odd, but also, if you let that subject (ex your job) die off in the convo. then it adds to the mystery and generates more interest. There certainly is a fine line between creating interest and closing quickly, which can be done, but I feel is quit difficult through this app. Another comment, like the mystery method, don't be needy. Always portray that outcome independent mentality. If a girl seems jaded, say something ridiculous to get her attention. Questions: 1) how do you know she isn't the catfish? 2) how intermittently do you text, over how many days per person? 3) other ways to stand out? (Picture choices, tagline, ect.)
Good post, hope I conveyed my point understandably. Let me know what you think about the mystery aspect.
[–]kotdfmo[S] 4 points5 points6 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You definitely want to maintain some mystery, and in a funny way like you said. The what do you do / what's your story question is one you will often get, and have fun with it. But always remember that there has to be an awareness of how odd this "dating app" is, and you need to maintain balance between the creepy vs. mysterious / fun line. After some practice you should be able to tell where that is.
1) You don't know that, but there is in general less risk on the guys end. One person tried to video chat me and sent me a link on tinder. That person was a catfish / hacker. 2) It depends. I always text right away and have a short convo. I'll either ask for her schedule in that conversation, or pick up the conversation the next day and ask her then. 3) For pics go with what works best. My tagline is the emoji of a fish on a hook, because it makes me laugh, but I don't think it matters too much.

Oops, I got 4/4 responses on OKC from that first text!!! 2 girls I texted your watermelon/pancakes - no response. 3rd girl I asked what song describes her most romantic evening - texted back and forth a bit. 4th girl I changed watermelon to guava jelly and pancakes to flapjacks - she just texted "orgasm LOL"
Good stuff!

I know I'm late but thanks for this post. Just tried this app out and I'm already having success with your method. FYI, the first girl to answer, chose watermelons (I changed it to grapefruit in mine). Thought it was funny since you were so sure they all choose the orgasm lol

As of yesterday, apparently.

Have any of yall had any issues with fake profiles or anything? I'm thinking about trying this app out...
[–]kotdfmo[S] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
There has been an issue with fake profiles recently. Basically if they seem like they are on a script, and ask you to click on a link to vid chat it's a phishing scam.
Check it out here: http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/tinder-spammers-flirt-popular-mobile-dating-app

That's fine, as long as it's not those OKCupid fakes who soley use a fake pic to troll/tease you on. Fucking annoying how so many sociopaths are on online dating to fuck with people
[–]legionmd82 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
you are a genius, I had a lot of doubts about that openeer as just casual conversation seemed to work with me but I tried it out of curiosity and it worked everytime...
[–]forbin1992 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, this always certainly gets there attention. After they answer the question, I usually say exactly what you wrote "Ok good, just had to check to make sure we would get along. You passed the first test".
After doing that 3 times, no one responded to that text, so I guess that'll have to change. Also, I've gotten 9 watermelons and 0 pancake orgasms.
Don't worry, I'm changing the questions now but originally I wanted to stick to the formula

Just tried this for the first time. Got blocked on my first attempt. I'm going back to my old methods.
[–]DukeHyde-11 points 12 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
How about this one, I want your opinion
When I get a match, It goes like this:
Me: Hi! This is really tough, but I must confess something
Tinder Match: tell me! (almost every time, or something like this)
Me: I like you! hahaha
TM: lol (Since it's obvious that I like her to begin with)
And I take it from there
