I think what's going on is you're too invested on whats going to happen next in the interaction. Start easy, ask for directions (this helped me tremendously). If that's too easy for you go for another thing that scares you a bit, maybe give a compliment and walk away. Say I love your jacket or I love your style and just walk away. If she seems positive stay in the interaction, if not just move on. Nothing lost but a small bit of confidence gained. Eventually the more you do it day to day it'll get easier for you. Do the same thing when you have a toothache. You don't want to go to dentist, yet do it cause you don't have any other options.
