On tinder about 3/4 people I message, do respond. Most the time I just use a silly pick up line. Might seem odd but it works for me. (given that it may be cuter then a girl uses a pick up line but still)

Now to the actualy advice. You must be aware that women also tend to swipe randomly some time. Or they are bored and let their friends swipe for them. They can also be drunk, tired or both when they are swiping.

The morning after, she wakes up and sees some matches she does not really care about. I remember sitting with some girls in a bar and they were just randomly "troll-swiping" ...

Thus: don't take it personally

Some practical advice: your pictures must be top-notch. In both quality and composition. They must tell a story and convey value. They must catch the eye and be different (in a positive way). Note: there are no non-photogenic people - there are just people who have no experience being photographed - practice is key. Ask a friend to take pictures (and stay at it until the shots start becoming decent). A friend of mine took about 5000 shots to assemble his tinder profile.

Be attractive, for one.

Don't introduce yourself! Put your name on your profile. Use "Hey NAME, ..." instead.

Take inspiration from their profile, look for common interests. Say something stupid, goofy or funny. Be playful! It is so important online. Women are inundated with guys trying to get into their pants. You will be refreshing if you are clearly just having fun with her.

After a few messages, ask her out. Simple. If she needs more time, decide whether you can be bothered. Women who are interested will agree to meet pretty quickly.

Be polarising. Weeds out the time wasters and the ones who actually dig it will be incredibly receptive.

Any dummy with a phone can type "hi baby how are you?". Be the exception to the rule.

The best way to get a response is to open with something relevant to the girl... comment on something she wrote in her profile or on one of her pics (not on how hot she looks of course).

"Hi I'm [name]. How's your week/weekend/holiday going?" does not warrant a response. It's so bland and common... how many of these "Hi" messages do you think they get? The struggle for most guys in online dating is to get matches/responses from the girls... for girls it's the opposite, they have to filter through the 100s of messages they get to find a decent guy. Unless you look like a male model, a generic "Hi" is probably not going to get you a response, she's got 20 other messages from guys who might be better looking than you... so what are you gonna do to stand out?

Also I need to see the pictures you are using to give you any meaningful feedback on getting more matches/responses. Pictures are everything because it's all they got to formulate a first impression and opinion of you... if all pictures of you make you look like a loser/loner/downer/etc (ie. all selfies) then you're gonna have a hard time getting matches.

It's not just you. Women have ridiculously high standards and if you can't convey high status (which is hard to generate artificially, IMHO) you have no chance, you won't be able to meet anyone, not even those women you're not interested in.

Hate to be pessimistic, but these days, you're either a prize or you're not on their radar.
