I went out to meet a friend in an area I don't usually hang out in. It's a heavily Westernized area that caters to military and an older crowd. I didn't really have high expectations for the night and figured I'd make the best of a bad situation and just enjoy some good company with my friend. Lesson: It's important not go out with expectations or hard goals. You don't want to feel pressure or that you've "failed" by not opening X amount of sets or getting a K-close. Just have fun.

After a couple whiskys and some good beer, we decided to keep it going with cheap beers sitting outside a convenience store. My friend overheard someone speaking French and just yelled something back. Turns out there were some Korean-French students chilling in the same place. James used his basic French as an in with them, and we ended up inviting them to come to some bars with us to go dancing. Lesson: While I wasn't the one approaching, it's an important lesson. If you can find a way to interact meaningfully, go for it. It's extremely rare to hear people speaking French here in Korea, so it drew his attention and he didn't hesitate to take advantage. See a girl with your favorite band T-shirt? Fuckin' say hi!

After a bit of aimless wandering, we found a bar that was pretty poppin'. Once we were in, I pretty much went off on my own. I love dancing, and I don't need a group to do it. I put myself right in the most crowded part of the dance floor and just enjoyed myself for awhile. The place was a bit of a sausage fest, but I was near two Korean girls. I interacted with them a bit. I asked one's name. Kino'd a bit. She allowed me to put my hands on her back/waist, but resisted hand holding. I kept bouncing my attention back and forth between her and her friend, which I felt limited the potential for the pull. Lesson: Shit or get off the pot. I feel like this set could've gone somewhere if I hadn't been obviously switching my attention between them in front of each other. Pick a target and burn that motherfucker to the ground. Don't pussyfoot around it.

I went to the bathroom and when I came back, the girls were swarmed in the middle of a bunch of dudes. Didn't even bother trying to get back into it. Made eye contact with a cute girl I had noticed earlier. She reminded me of a 70s go-go dancer. Before she was just being a wallflower -- standing around drinking and watching, but not interacting which was pretty boring. Now she was out there dancing and smiling, which made her much more attractive. As soon as I got that eye contact and smile, I slipped over to her. I don't remember exactly what I said. Either I asked her name or if she came alone, which she had. Literally within five seconds of approaching her, I was holding both of her hands. Lesson: I'm not going to give you bullshit about the Three Second Rule. I never follow that. Approach when you feel it. Before, she was being a bit of a downer. I didn't want to approach her. Later, she was having fun and was matching my energy and state of mind. Approach hard. I was instantly kinoing her. What I said really didn't matter. It never does. Just say something.

We danced face to face for awhile. We would make some small talk here and there, but honestly I couldn't tell you what we said. I eye-fucked the shit out of her. Strong eye contact while you're all up in her personal space is a powerful tool. She'd hold the eye contact for about three seconds then blush, smile and look away for a second then look back up. I was in like flint. I K-closed on the dance floor, but I didn't get too dirty. I kept it under ten seconds, tasteful tongue, and I pulled away first. Gotta leave her wanting more. Lesson: I'm not a huge fan of excessive PDA, particularly in bars. Besides, they're counter-productive. A hard, sloppy makeout doesn't get her any closer to your bed. It just validates her and then she leaves with her friends. Turn the girl on, but don't get her off.

I suggested we go outside for some fresh air. We walked around a bit, then headed back inside. Dancing got a little dirtier as she grinded her ass on me. A little more kissing, but not too much. We went back outside and I said we should go back to my place. I said we should go back to my place. Not asked. She showed a bit of LMR. She gave me the whole, "I don't do this type of thing," excuse. She said, "What if we go back and have a great time and I never see you again..." Obviously all I needed to do was lay down a little more comfort. I whipped out my phone and told her to call my phone. After that, we hopped in a taxi and the rest was murder she wrote. Lesson: When it comes to LMR, there are a lot of ways to defuse it, but obviously this was just a case of needing more comfort.

I just remembered two important interactions.

After coming back into the bar, I lead her to the bar and bought a bottle of water.

Her: Oh, you bought me a bottle of water!

Me: I bought me a bottle of water. We can share.

Lesson: The only condition I buy any girl a drink is if we've established that there will be turns taken for rounds or close friends. I'm not buying your attention. I show self-respect and also build a "we" connection.

All night I had seven drinks, from about 10:30 PM - 3:30 AM. I know a lot of people preach 100% sober game, but that's bullshit. I understand that drinking is a slippery slope. One drink leads to just one more which leads to just ten more. Know your fucking limit and drink responsibly. As we were walking to the taxi:

Her: I'm not even drunk yet...

Me: Good. I don't want you to be drunk when you make this decision. Do you want to be drunk when you make this decision?

Her: No! I'm not that kind of per- Wait. Are you drunk?

Me: Nope.

Her: Not at all?

Me: Nope.

I think this went a long way towards building comfort with her. She knows I'm not just some sloppy drunk guy hitting on anything I lay eyes on. I'm in control of myself and I've chosen her.
