Is brunch/lunch any good for a first date?

Brunch/lunch is awful. You sit across from each other, can't escalate, you have to do the awkward "who's paying?" calculation. Just invite her for coffee to a place that has bar seating. There you can sit next to each other and if it goes well, you can order food to extend the date or go somewhere else for lunch

Yer it’s very good. If it goes well you’ve got the rest of the day. If it goes bad you can make an excuse that you’ve gotta be somewhere later on. Also a bit less formal than dinner.

Invite her to go for a walk in the park instead. It's free, you can escalate, and there's more to see and do.

If the date is going well and the park is in close proximity to your place, you might even be able to pull her right then and there.

It's alright but probably not the best for a first date since it's kind of one dimensional. You could use it as either an additional activity where you do something first like a hike, then go to brunch which would be more optimal. Or you could start with brunch/lunch and then do an activity later which could be good if you are kind of unsure about a girl and want to screen her personality and if you think you aren't compatible you could just end the date after eating

I think a restaurant date works better after you establish a level of attraction because like someone stated there is very little room to escalate when you sit across from them.

Bars are better. There’s something about evening drinks that’s a bit more romantic & says “This is a date. Not platonic.”

Lunch is what you get with co-workers or friends you haven’t seen in awhile.

Also I’m not sure where you live but it’s been hot as balls out lately
