Prolonged eye contact (longer than a second or two) is an IOI.

Meeting your eyes and then looking down and/or blushing or smiling or laughing is also an IOI.

You can use these as indicators to approach. Just remember that IOIs are not guarantees. Back in the day, Mystery said you needed 3 to be more certain of interest. Thats still a good rule of thumb in my eyes.

No, it's a small IOI. And the ones who don't give eye contact may just be shy (like you used to be).

You'll probably get a range of different answers, but in the situations you're mentioning I would just enjoy the eye contact you're receiving and giving. It's a silent "hello".

If you see the same person 2-3 times then by all means approach. Or you can do an eyebrow raise to show you recognise them. Then approach on the next occasion.

I'm not a fan of cold approach and prefer having some pretext/context to start a conversation.

Plus I'll be sociable with anyone, not just women I'm attracted to. It's not a skill that comes naturally to me, so it's good to get the practice.

Depends on how long it is held.

Most of the time what you'll see is either brief unintentional eye contact, or the glance-and-a-half where someone locks eyes with you and holds a half-second or so longer than normal. If they look away and then look back, that's a good sign.

And if you get the held eye contact plus a smile, that's a straight-up approach signal.

What's really important is how they make eye contact with you in conversation. Sometimes you'll get that vibe where you're locking eyes without being consciously aware of it and getting lost in each other's eyes. That's not just a sign of interest but a sign of mutual chemistry and trust me, she'll be aware of it too.

It is. Think of a mom with her kids/husband. Most of the time, you are invisible to them.

Compared to a chick in her 20s. You can just feel the different energy with eye contact

If the girl smiles at you there is no excuse to not approach. This means she respects you enough that it is highly unlikely you will get in trouble for approaching, as long as you can read cues and back down if she turns out not to be interested.

If there's a smile , then yeah. Depends how the eye contact is. I have experienced different kinds. Like "I am checking you out, who are you?" kind of eye contact. Without a smile.
Then you have an eye contact with a smile and a 2nd look - that is a strong sign.

As a woman with ADHD (so, neurodivergent) eye contact baffles the fuck out of me, I used to use so much energy trying to mask making eye contact like a ‘normal person’ but I just don’t bother now. So I’m likely making no eye contact or I’m staring unblinking into your soul and likely neither mean anything hahaha. Sorry 🫣

No, and I wouldn't put too much trust in IOIs. I've received in the past the full spectre of IOIs from a prima donna: mirroring, gazing, neck exposure, seeing her around me, catching her staring at me multiple times and it went on and on for months and it led nowhere. I was at university so we shared physical location.

Face to face conversation was awkward, added her on facebook thinking she had social anxiety and it felt like I was talking to a wall. No warmth whatsoever.

Another scenario was with another girl, we chatted a bit and the convo naturally started evolving and after asking for her number she completely leaned towards me but then when I asked her on a date she didn't reply.

Women will literally "cold approach" and tell you they are interested in "spending time with you" on the low end

and on the high end they will tell you they want to have sex. but usually they have to know you for at least a couple days to say that.
