No not at all.

But like looks can it help? Of course.

Girls go to the dance floor to take in the energy and have fun. As long as you are putting out the right energy you don't have to be a good dancer.

I see too many guys trying to talk to a girl on the dance floor. Newsflash, she is on the dance floor to dance not talk.

You will have success as long as you have fun and dance.

I wouldn't say it's required but it sure as hell makes pickup a whole lot easier.

I'm a newbie to the dance scene but I already feel at home. Just get on the dance floor, feel the music and start dancing. NO ONE CARES how ridiculous you may look so NO, you don't need to know "how" to dance. Oh, and remember to smile.

I stop dancing at random times and look around. If I see an attractive girl dancing by herself - I'll point right at her and say, "You!" Followed by "Come here!" and motion her with my hand. That's usually all it takes to get a dance.

Nah. I go to a dancing class and there's this one girl who's into me, and I get her to dance with me and teach me moves. She was teaching me this one move where you swing your hips as you step forward and I can't swing my hips well AT ALL. But I was just laughing about it and she thought it was funny.

As long as you're having fun, it'll show and she'll be into you. As long as you don't embarrass her, of course ;)

It's not about your skill at dancing, it's about your enthusiasm. If you're going all out and you don't care how bad it looks, it's awesome. I have a friend that has the wackiest fucking dance in the world, but I've seen so many girls approach him because of it. Just go out there and have fun and girls will be attracted to the energy.

Personally, I've found its better to keep it simple. Dance with some rhythm but nothing too crazy, and you can end up dancing with her.

I'm a shit dancer, but whenever I'm on the dance floor I have a stupid amount of fun. I look ridiculous, so at places like warehouse parties, people will come up to me and ask if I have molly when I'm stone cold sober. But I have fun, so people (girls especially) usually dig it. When I dance with a girl, I dance as I usually do, but I'm more physical, more sexual. I'm overweight and don't consider myself to be good looking (face is nice, but my body needs work), but because I'm playful and am having fun, they overlook those two factors.

Just last week, I was out in the LES solo. I wasn't intending on picking up girls, but I ran into some mid-twenty-year-olds (mixed group) who were waiting in line for a bar the eve of Cinco de Mayo. I'm under 21, so they were interested in me to begin with, but as soon as I got on the dance floor, I became the life of the party, and the girls in the group were definitely attracted to me. When the bar closed, they complimented my "skills." I said I have lots of fun, but I'm awful; and they said that having "fun" was all that matters.

TL;DR, go in, have fun, don't give a shit about what people think, dance with girls, be physical, and be playful
